I was lying in our family bed in this very house with a four hour old Koala. I was beyond blissed out and euphoric in love. Solshine was sleeping beside us and my brother and Stone were sitting on our couch enjoying the moment and celebrating the expansion of our family and our love.
It was a complete moment. It felt as though time and circumstance had aligned so perfectly that everything just stopped and I could feel, hear and just be that moment that cascades forward, but allows infinite awareness.
Tonight I nursed him to sleep on the couch after a full and busy day. He is that perfect two year old who switches rapidly from mama’s baby to a fiercely independent soul. I do my best to roll with it and find amusement in his mood swings and his new awareness of “me, me, ME!!!!!”
As he fell asleep he sank slowly into my body and I could feel him return to that safety of his mother. Together we returned to that moment we had two years ago this evening where all was well–all was complete. He has grown so much, but he is still so much a part of his mother and together we complete each other. These moments are sweet and I can feel time beginning to slow, circumstances align and that feeling of contentedness seeps in as I write this.
I feel so honored to play this role of mother and learn to share my wholeness with them. It hasn’t always been easy, but it has always, and continues to grow me as a person and expand my capacity for love.
