Our Story
We arrived in the Finger Lakes of Central New York in January 2008 after a series of serendipitous events led us to our new home. We are originally from New England and were looking for a strong and mindful community in which to grow our roots. I never understood the true essence of home or the strong love one acquires for a place until I came here. We are grounding, learning and growing here amongst the wise and wild ways of Ithaca and it’s surrounding beauty.
We live in a family friendly neighborhood where people play live music on their front porch after dinner, there are sidewalks on every road and gardening is eclectic. Downtown is short enough to walk in for summer concerts and daily errands, but long enough for a good talk and a little exercise.
Surrounded by an abundance of local, whole foods we are blessed. We belong to a summer and winter CSA, shop at the Co-op and support our local Farmers’ Market. In fact, I consider our lazy Sunday mornings at Farmers’ Market to be sacred time. Community, art, food, and music: the magic combination of blissful living.
Stone designs and implements stone art for people’s back yards and has been enthusiastically learning about aquaculture in the spirit of Sepp Holzer. My sweet man is drawn to the healing nature of water and is learning how to build water systems that heal the land and provide for the plants, animals and people. It’s no surprise that he is a pisces/pisces.
I’ve been focused on conscious and empowered birthing these past ten years. I had two amazing homebirths and Koala’s birth was short and pain-free. I was attending births as a doula before Koala was born, but now I volunteer for my local Birthnet group. We are in the first steps of creating a birth center centered around mother-friendly birth practices. I also keep books for Stone’s business and I have a few other projects up my sleeve that I’m sure you’ll find out about ;-)
The kids… well, they are kids. They wake and they are happy. They get hungry and tired and they are grumpy. They wrestle and dance and play and sing and learn all the time. It’s our intuitive belief that the living world is best education so we don’t focus on specific technique’s, institutions or labels.
There is so much more: stories of where we’ve been; dreams of where we are going–but no worries. All in good time my friends, all in good time.
Thank you for visiting and stick around if you are a kindred spirit. Share your wisdom because collectively we’re creating a better world by living better lives: one by one we’re shifting the global consciousness.
I love you. I am so sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you.
