We celebrated Easter today.
The Easter Bunny brought the boys new galoshes.
The sun was shining so we immediately *RAN* to a favorite nature reserve of ours…
…and jumped over a little stream….
…and put those boots right to the test!
Since they worked we looked for treasures…
…and walked hand in hand down the stream.
Sol *needed* to find out what lay beyond the stone bridge…
…and Dad was happy to oblige the little explorers (while mom stayed on drier land).
It was such a beautiful weekend and it was so good for our family to take some time out and just enjoy the sunshine and each other. I hope you and yours found some fun and rejuvenation in your weekend.
(I couldn’t stop thinking about this post written one year ago, not long after I first started blogging and was taking pics with my old camera. I remember really enjoying writing this and feeling like I was finding my blogging groove.)

OMG – those Galoshes are the COOLEST!!! My kids don’t own a pair because I’m not an “outdoorsy” kind of mom (boy, I wish I were though – that’s the kind of mom I wanna be when I grow up.)
I saw some cute rain boots at Target and thought about buying them, but then I thought the kids would probably not get much use out of them and it would be a waste of $40 (total) dollars. We have to be extra picky about what we waste our money on these days given that I went and quit my job last fall (stupid, stupid, Gina.)
We do have a cute nature center by us that the kids have been to a couple times. This makes me want to find them some galoshes at the thrift store and take them wading in the creek over there.

I know! I absolutely fell in love with the galoshes. In my experience I’ve found that rubber boots get used so much. I’d much rather let them stomp in puddles on the way to the car then try to get them to keep their sneakers dry and since they can put them on themselves they choose to wear them on non rainy days.
I try to buy them big so they last a while (and with the intention that they pass down).
I think mama needs a pair!
You tell Sol that Elise has a pair of new galoshes, too. She has been saving to buy a pair between college loans and subbing jobs and finally got them last week.
Those galoshes are wonderful! Enough to make me want some, too.
I went back and read your post from last year also. Oh my! I love it!!

Very cute family pictures. I’m happy about almost anyone blogging (except the Glen Beck types) – it’s good for the soul. Your family looks happy and those shoes are great for the muck I noticed abounds in this area.
Great post and enjoyed your post from one year ago as well.
Love the rain boots! My son wears his a ton here in London. We go puddle stomping all the time. But where on earth do you live that you can walk to such a gorgeous stream? I am so jealous (in a good way), but so happy for your sweet family. What a great outing!.

We totally had to drive to the hike. Less than 10 minutes away though!
I love your new header!
And I love the new galoshes and shots of them in use. What a lovely way to spend a spring day. :)
