Last week we had the honor of hosting Stone’s family including his sister who now lives in California with her family and whom we have not seen in two years. The last time she saw Koala he was crawling.
I’ve been friends with her since I started dating Stone at the end of my junior year of high school. Stone was a year older and we were the same age and got along naturally. I am the oldest of two brothers and since I never had a sister I was thrilled to find out I had a sister-in-love.
Sister-in-love was a phrase we picked up the summer Solshine was just seven months old. Sol and I flew out to Cali to see her and to make the pilgrimage north to the Northern California Women’s Herbal Symposium. We were blissed out be be chilling with our babes amongst such an amazing group of women. At one point we were introducing ourselves and we said, “She’s my sister-in-law……but it’s different, we love each other.” The woman’s response was, “Of course! She’s your sister-in-love!”
We loved it. Sister-in-law never quite described the role we played in each other’s lives. We are much more than just friends and a dear, dear member of my sisterhood. It is something special and we needed a special way to describe it. Sister-in-love just fit the bill.
Sister-in-love was of course enamored with NiNu and she did indeed have a magic touch that freed up my arms and let me spend some precious time with Koala. Aunties are a very good thing.
Let this be Sister-in-Love’s formal introduction. I know she reads along and I hope she comments more and more. Her writing and art is definitely something worth sharing and I would love it if she contributed sometimes (hint, hint ;). She has amazing talents and I’m blessed to have her in my life. We all are.

Lucky lucky you! My sister in law is pregnant with her first and I hope her babe helps change our relationship for the better!

Babies tend to help like that. Congratulations auntie :)
Aww, I love this so much!!
Aw, she sounds amazing! How lucky you are to have a sister-in-law like that. :)
I am deeply touched to be here. Being home now and in my moontime I am reflecting on all I have. I loved holding Ninu on the pillow and singing and rambling about all the amazing cartwheels she will do and the sisterhood she has and will cultivate in her life. I would love to contribute sometime and how, and thank you… I love you too and am proud of the love and intention you bring to the world.
It was so amazing to see her in your arms. We had such a great visit with your family and I look forward to making more memories in years to come. You are welcome to share words and art anytime. I’d be honored.
