Rock Steady :: My Anthem for 2011 (and saying good-bye to the crazy that was 2010)

by flowers on December 31, 2010 · 11 comments

The party is in full swing. We’re home from holiday visiting, I’ve unpacked everyone and we’re non-stop prepping for the new year. There’s so much to be thankful for and many preparations are in order.

2010, I kiss you good-bye. You were a roller coaster of extremes. We launched part 1 of the family business, we welcomed the most amazing daughter into our lives and I rallied with my community to change a New York State law. It was raw, beautiful, blissful and……stressful. I learned to just take it day by day and celebrate the everyday victories. I am so thankful for everything that happened, but I’m not kidding when I say I am ready to move on.

2011, I have some words for you.

Rock Steady.

That’s what I’ll be. Rock Steady, baby.

I know this new year will be just as wild. We’ve broken free from conventionality and it’s a wild world out here. I am embrace this, but you’ll find me strong and steady.

You’ll find me cool, calm and productive.

I’ll leave you this evening because I have a hot toddy to drink and a husband to kiss, but I look forward to sharing my New Year’s intentions with you these next few weeks and my journey throughout the year. Life is not slowing down, but with a little lot of mindfulness and a little lot of organizing I’m going love 2011 with my heart wide open, my spirit well-nourished and mind lit up inspired.

I’ll see you on the other side.

Rock Steady, baby. That’s what I am.

Happy new year, Hillary! I like the idea of picking just a word or phrase to embody your aspirations. I want to say that “balance” will be mine for 2011, except that I haven’t quite met my goal for 2010, which is to “take care of old karma.” Perhaps that’s the work of many years?

I just had the same word for two years: Launch. It was appropriate when last New Year’s came around and in all seriousness it’s still appropriate this year. I just needed to move forward with something new and exciting. Perhaps we can look at our words and phrases as building blocks. They don’t disappear, but evolve into new phases.

Rachael, Not to derail Hillary’s post, but I’ve read in many sources that all karma has been forgiven and released ~ so now all we have to do is let go and live from our heart. I found hearing this an IMMENSE releif, so I hope you do too ~ no need to do years of work.

Now, whenever anything “karma-like” pops up, I just affirm that “all karma has been forgiven and released” and move on. It’s such a RELIEF!!!
Love to you!

Please, evolve the conversation any way you’d like!

Kate, thanks for this. I found relief hearing this, too.
