5 Reasons Why You Need a Day at the Spa

The Spa

You Deserve It!

Motherhood (parenthood) is loud, messy and constantly asks you to stretch. This can all leave a person feeling crazy, insane and completely stressed out.

The spa is quiet, neat and likes to keep you well within your comfort limits. The stress melts off and you begin to feel human again. In fact, you start to see your children as completely lovely beings who enhance your life.

The Robe and Sandals

A good spa will give you one of those perfect robes that make you feel like a goddess. The sandals perfectly massage your feet while you slowly meander around looking at beautifully placed perfect things like orchids and smooth stones.

You would like things like orchids and smooth stones in your home, but the stones might break windows (or siblings) and the orchids would definitely not make it.

The Air is Clean and the Water Tastes Better

Breath deep because they’ve been purifying the air and you can choose–do you want purified water infused with cucumber or lemon? Perhaps the most difficult decision you’ll make all day. Ahhhhhhhh……

Your Well Being Depends On It

It’s basic knowledge now–stress causes disease, meltdowns and basically makes life sucky. Massage and other means of well-being create a healthier and more relaxed you. This in turn means a happier home and better relationships within your family.

Sometimes They Let You Stay

A really great spa that is focused on well-being will give you a day pass even if you are just going in for a simple massage. Use the sauna, saunter around the tranquility room, read a book and take a hot shower using really expensive organic, nice smelling products. You’ll come home a new woman and you might smell so good your partner will continue to lavish you with well deserved loving attention. Mmmmm….who would’ve thought life could be so good.

This post is a direct result of a gracious gift certificate to the spa which led me on the most glorious, amazing afternoon all to myself. I’ve never been much of a spa girl, but consider me a convert. Please feel free to forward this to any well meaning relative or friend who might see it as a hint for great Mother’s Day present. Or gift yourself. You deserve it.

ahhhhh….i felt myself relax just reading about your beautiful day!!!

my friend and i have put together a (week after) mothers’ day retreat, complete with a delicious and healthy catered lunch, called filling the well for the exact reasons you described above.

it is so very good for the body, mind and soul to step out of the hustle and bustle of parenting and householding and into the warm embrace of quiet and pampering.

I think I need a day at the spa RIGHT NOW! I have one child tantruming over a bad hair day (she’s 5!!) and another who is repeating over and over again “I want daddy!” I think we’re on repetition #129. How long can she go for? ….Ugh! Reading your post is my time out for myself I’m going nuts this morning!

Oh, Melodie–how I know that feeling. I really hope you get through the day with some sanity intact and you best be taking a spa day asap! I’m going to hold you to it :)

Just looking at that photo feels amazing! And reminds me that I still have a gift certificate for a massage (not at a spa) from last mother’s day. (It was for 2 but I have only claimed one, so far) That’s pretty sad, isn’t it?

Oh well, at least I do have orchids!

Gardenmama….amazingly weird that you commented, because I just thought of you 15 minutes ago and wondered how you were!

Love when that happens.

I never understood spas before I had kids. Now I would live in one if I could. Ah, peace and quiet and pampering!
