The nursery Stone is affiliated with opened relationships with local artists and combined outdoor art with the natural beauty of the thriving nursery. The show opened with a customer appreciation day and there was music, (biodegradable) balloons and food. It was a good time and it was a magical place to take photos and daydream. The event gave us new ideas of how we are going to further our Front Yard Project. I would love to incorporate local art into our little outdoor space. It is going to round out the feeling we are going for.
The event poignantly showcased how powerful it can be to merge different mediums of art and crafts(wo)manship. Strong community ties are invaluable and gathering for appreciation and cooperation strengthens us as a local community.
Support your local artist. See value in crafts(wo)manship. When you buy a local piece of art or hire a small craftsperson you are guaranteed to know you are feeding their family, heating their home and most likely keeping your dollar in local circulation.
The economic times cause people to cut out extras like local arts and crafts, but it’s more important than ever to support each other. Who are you giving your money to? Comcast and Dean foods? Local farmers and artisans? We choose our world and our future with our dollar and a simple reassessment of finances might find you cable tv free and a hundred dollars flush to see a local show, buy a piece of art, or saving to have that super cool green handyman (who repurposes materials turning old trash into unique art) renovate your home.
The world is beautiful when we choose the fine art of supporting one another’s creative endeavors.

So very cool. I love the stone woman but at the same time wouldn’t want to step on her!

lol, Tara. I thought the same thing and you know I saw one of my kids kick her foot out of place. Yikes! Art must be children-friendly around here ;-)
I love that stone woman! What a lovely space…and I couldn’t agree more with your sentiments regarding local farmers and artists. My husband is a furniture maker and we live project to project (no paychecks here)…but beyond that we love the connections we make with the people that support us and the ones we in turn support.

We are the same way and it helps us to be so conscious about supporting other small businesses. I don’t think there could be a better place to put your dollar. Even if the product costs 3x what it would at a box store. (Which it’s almost guaranteed to be of better quality.)
what a beautiful co-creative celebration!!!!
