Welcome February! We’re officially in the middle of winter–halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox: Imbolc.
This month seems so wide open. We’ve fully recovered from holiday craziness and are now turning our attentions to Spring. Stone will be launching his new business and we have a lot to do in order to prepare.
We keep trying to make decisions and life keeps calling us to purge and we find ourselves in the midst of completely cleaning out our home and finally getting to those little projects we’ve been meaning to do all winter.
My blogoversary was yesterday and although I’ve been thinking about it some external circumstances prevented me from having anything special to put out in it’s honor. I couldn’t be happier as I’ve been reflecting on this past year of blogging. What started out as so foreign and even scary, now feels solid and familiar. I’m really excited to see how this next year unfolds.
Heck, I’m really excited to see how this next month unfolds! I’ve been musing up some great content for you. We’ve got some do-it-yourself projects to feature, thoughts on business and ethics and something I’ve been wanting to articulate and explore is this idea of “the New American Dream” and what that means to us.
I’m busy, busy working on a personal project I plan on launching this Spring and I’m currently on call for a couple who is planning homebirth! I’m so excited to be attending a birth since my hiatus of birthing and nursing Koala. And of course I’ll be on another hiatus soon. Oh wait, did you think I forgot? No way! I’m blissfully loving my night time kicks and bumps and we’ll be hearing the heart beat for the first time at 23 weeks.
Here’s a little belly bump love from last week (20 weeks):
I’m starting to understand the energy of the third child. It is such a tag-along, flow is already in place kind of kid. We’ll see if this energy continues outside of the womb; it would certainly be helpful.
I hope you’re all doing well, rocking out your world and finding your way. I might take a week or so to do some major family strategizing and organizing, but I’m sure I won’t be gone for long–how could I stay away from something that feels so good? Impossible!
Thanks for your continual support.

Kate that’s really sweet! We were supposed to get together with a group of mamas to make a soup together to celebrate, but our day has just been so crazy.

Have you heard of Anita Renfroe? My grandmother made me watch her standup. She does the Momsense song, which I didn’t particularly like. But she did another one that made me laugh…it describes my oldest brother, my middle-child sister and me, the baby pretty well….as kids at least. What you said reminded me of it… ;)

Anita Renfroe explains the whole birth-order thing:
“My theory is that with the first child, there’s not much room in the womb, so he has to fight for every centimeter. That makes firstborns overachievers in life. When the second one gets in there, there’s a little more room, so he can tell that someone’s been in there before him and he doesn’t think that’s fair. That frames his mind-set from there on out. By the third one, the womb’s all stretched out, and that’s why the youngest ones are the most relaxed—because they’ve got this big addition.”

everything sounds so good mama! I love, love, LOVE that that last picture….the belly, the facial expressions…all priceless. And I think you’ve got the whole third born thing figured out;)
Excited to read all that will unfold here this month. Have you heard of the Center for the New American Dream? We used their templates for simplifying the holidays with our Alternative Gift Fair. lots of good stuff related to kids and commercialism there too!
Happy blogoversary!!!
