This is a picture of my steady man living out his vision.
A while back we took some time to evaluate our home, work, goals and visions. I asked Stone how he envisioned himself in context to our home and family and after a short pause he responded, “Buddha on a pirate ship.”
I gave a full bellied laugh because this visual hit the nail on the head. There is no getting around it: our home is very much a pirate ship. (If pirates were cute and played with nerf swords of course.) Finding a quiet space to meditate, pray or find inner-peace in our 750 sq ft home is nearly impossible. Therefore the buddha must find peace within the chaos.
Well done my love.

love this post. buddha on a pirate ship is such a great way to be!!!
I’m gonna use that! ;)
Silly me, I spend all of this energy trying/wishing to turn my own pirate ship into something more like the monastery upstate where I do some of my training. Instead of just letting the pirate ship be … Thanks for the image, and the photo is beautiful, too!
Very well said! I often think I need to have complete calm and quiet in order to meditate, but I find myself catching some deep breaths in the car with the kid music on or while walking the dog! We must find it where we can!
Thanks!
Suzy
so love this! :)
So perfect!
I LOVE that! :D
Hi, Hillary, We are about to embark on an adventure much like yours- we’ll be a family of four in a very small space. We’ll both be students- with income only from savings, financial aid and grants. Things will be better and simple and I’ll be home with the kids, but….I’d love to know, if it’s not too personal, how you guys make it work financially. I’m struggling and stressed in how it’s all going to come together….
Thanks!
Kelly
