Today we received our first gift of Christmas and it warmed my heart better than a shiny new Kindle. An older couple who befriended and supported us when we first moved to town without friends, families or jobs (a story for another day) stopped by to see the baby and visit. They only stayed for a half-hour, but they brought paper stars for the kids to hang on the tree and left a wrapped package under it.
It was novel and the kids had to open it. Our friends had already left and I was reflecting on their kindness and the serendipitous way life reminds us of what is truly important. When the gift was opened and Solshine held it up for me to read I found one more humble reason to give thanks this season.
Treasure Your Blessings
It’s perfect and wonderful and only deepens my understanding that this year, this point in time specifically, is for us to work hard, let go of any worries and find comfort in the many, many blessings that surround us.
And there are truly many blessings for us to treasure.
