I am not a morning person. If I had my way I would stay up doing crafty projects into the wee hours of the moonlight and sleep in until mid-morning. If you have children you are obviously laughing at me, because children, of course, run exactly the opposite schedule.
It’s been a challenge for me to wake up with my children and be productive or fun or even in a good mood. I’m grumpy and it takes a while for me to get going. This is okay, just another thing that makes me ‘me’, but I feel like I am the one missing out. Solshine and Koala are so happy to be alive first thing in the morning. They play together and laugh and dance and sing: I want in on that good morning feeling!
I’m trying to allow more beauty and gratitude into my morning experience, even if my head’s still groggy. I try to just snuggle low to the floor near the kids, drink a cup of tea and chill. This morning I worked on a bit of knitting and did some gentle yoga and I looked down to find a beautiful morning, lit in the sunlight.

Hopefully a sign of more beautiful mornings to come.

Sounds lovely! I am not a morning person either (hence my midnight commenting) but I can appreciate what you’re talking about… whatcha knitting these days??
Well, I’m making a scarf, but it’s out of sock weight yarn. I found this really delicious green, double strand yarn that is gorgeous and so worth the small fortune it cost. A gift for someone who might be lurking so I can’t say ;-)
I’m *sorta* a morning person. I love mornings but only quiet ones. I like to wake up early and feel like I have so much day ahead of me. Of course I also like to stay up late so it creates a real dichotomy. It also creates a sleep-deprived crab-apple. :/

what a beautiful photo and a lovely post!!!
i am very much a morning person but i really love softness and quiet and stillness when i first wake up. something that almost-three-year olds just don’t get for some reason!
I’m always in awe when people explain their affinity for mornings. That quiet softness just makes me want to go back to sleep! :-)
beautiful, thank you for this.
