41 Week Check-In

I just wanted to check-in with everyone. I noticed I haven’t been posting regularly the last few weeks and that feels okay as I’ve slowed down. The birth activism I’ve been working on since last November is at its final push. We believe there will be a full floor vote on Monday before the legislative session ends. I find it ironic how this political campaign has mirrored this pregnancy. Here we all are waiting for the final and big push!

Injuring my hip forced me to slow down and letting friends take care of me and my family has been a huge lesson in humility. It’s also been amazing to watch my children step up more independently when they had too. A good lesson for me. (I’d like to write more about this later.)

The family business is plugging along and the squeaky wheels that signify a start up are beginning to smooth out and roll on their own which is a nice feeling.

My mom should be coming soon to visit and stay awhile which will be a *huge* help. We’ve really missed having the help of family and this will be the first time we’ve had some relief in a month or so. I know the kids will be happy to see them.

My photography is all but non-existent right now due to a couch bound or crutches laden mama. I’m making peace with that too. (Though how I wish I had a new pretty picture to share with you!)

Despite all of this we have had a surge of creative and focused energy as a couple. Things became so stressful and overwhelming at a point that we had to make a decision: do we keep on moving forward from a place of frustration and stress OR do we change things up and make a conscious decision to unify and move forward as a team who wants to succeed. We chose option B and though the road has not been perfect (is it ever?) we’re already starting to feel so much better and prepared for the future…..actually we’re excited!

I’m going to relieve myself of any pressure to post here as I navigate the next month or so. I have a line-up of amazing guest posts I know you’ll love.
